Who are we?
Math Inspiring New Dreams is an initiative established by dedicated students and teachers at West Salem High School in Salem, Oregon. In June 2013, student Eleanor Fadely and educator Pattie Sloan were selected to attend the Bezos Scholars Program @ the Aspen Institute, a week-long leadership summit. In Colorado, they attended the Aspen Ideas Festival and had the privilege of meeting notable speakers such as Brian Green, Arianna Huffington, and Dr. Carol Dweck. Inspired by their experience, Eleanor and Pattie returned to Salem to establish a "Local Ideas Festival" in their own community; they chose to focus on the theme of women's educational empowerment.

Our Vision
To help girls of all ages become more confident with their math and science skills, and to recognize the opportunities a math and or science education can bring.
Our Mission
Mission: To promote math and science learning, interest, and enjoyment through an after-school club and peer teaching, and to educate parents and teachers about mindsets and their impact on girls’ math and science understanding.
Our plan is to empower girls to learn to their greatest capacity and we hope to teach girls that they can be just as successful as anyone else in the areas of science and math.
